I enjoyed reading your story - thanks for sharing!
I also think it’s great you and your husband set a boundary for your home and gave guests clear expectations so everyone was on the same page. Sounds like you guys were fabulous hosts!
Such a thoughtful, moving, vulnerable piece. I'm grateful to hear your story and share these moments with you this evening, Jessica. I deeply admire your journey forward ...
This was a powerful essay, Jessica!! Thank you for sharing it, and also for discerning what the Lord's voice said to you in each season. I really liked this line "I am the one who cares about alcohol, not my friends." because it feels like a Spirit-nudge to me that things that are so big to us or our personal struggles, may not be big/a struggle to other people, so we can't view life through our lens alone and that's why we keep following the Holy Spirit.
Yes, exactly! So many things in this life are a huge deal to us that simply aren’t to others. The Holy Spirit needs to be our guide to discern what truly does matter. It can be so easy to get caught up in our own myopic worldview that we forget to see things from others’ perspective.
